Make Fitness Your 2nd Religion

Growing up I did not attend church like many of my friends did.  The few times I did go I learned enough to know the importance of forgiveness and that nobody is morally perfect.  The bible and 10 Commandments are something my friends turned to as a reminder to do good moral things. Well that got me thinking that the same thing holds true when it comes to your health.  Nobody is perfect with eating and exercise.  Everyone slips up.  Maybe there is a need to read something that will help get everyone back on track.

The 10 Healthy Commandments:

1.)  Thou shall not let others effect my health and well-being.

2.)  Thou shall not look in the mirror and judge myself harshly, instead I will look in the mirror and say positive things to myself daily to form the habit.

3.)  Thou shall not ever use the word “can’t”, I will replace it with “in the future I will”.

4.)  Thou shall not continue to damage my body by ingesting processed food chemicals and fast food.  I will heal my body with natural foods from the earth.

5.)  Thou shall not judge others weaknesses, instead I will help to motivate and inspire others to get healthier.

6.)  Thou shall not drink pop or artificially sweetened drinks.  I will work towards reducing and eliminating them from my diet because they are toxic to my body.

7.)  Thou shall not cheat myself.  I will not use excuses for why I continue my unhealthy habits, instead I will use my mind/body connection and become a stronger person.

8.)  Thou shall not let my emotions get the best of me.  I will confront my issues from my past and present that have lead to my unhealthy habits.

9.)  Thou shall not be discouraged when I don’t see quick results.  Many years of unhealthy habits can’t be undone in a week.  I will keep in mind that it takes more than 2 weeks of consistency to begin a new healthy habit.  I won’t give up.

10.)  Thou shall pray daily for strength, confidence, and motivation to stay healthy.

Confidence—-What Everyone Needs!

Confidence is very important to help us to succeed in life.  Many of us through the years have suffered from drawbacks or failures, but getting back up and starting over is what is important.  Confidence means something different to everyone.  This is what I believe confidence stands for:

Energize—Keep the body healthy with good nutrition and exercise to continually feel vibrant on your journey!

Enthusiastic—Show others your excitement for life so it rubs off on them!

Make life great one day at a time, because we only have a short time on this earth!!

 

Make Running an Enjoyable Experience

I am currently training for a half marathon—–something to cross off the “bucket list”.  I am by no means built like your average long distance runner—-I am 5’9″ and weigh 170 lbs., and roughly 20% body fat.  My times are slower than most runners—-about a 9 1/2-11 minute mile depending on the distance.  Every Sunday is my long run during this training regimen.  I was mentally prepared ahead of time to run my 4 miles.  I started out just fine, but by mile 2 I was telling myself “I have 2 more miles to go, imagine 11.1 more miles!!”  Then begins the “how can I do this?” and “what have I got myself into?”.  In that moment I caught myself and changed my way of thinking right away.  I started by concentrating on my breathing, and calming down.  I realized that this half marathon is not about the time I complete it in, or beating the person in front of me.  My only goal for this competition is to finish it, and

accomplish something I never thought I could.  Running should be about enjoying and taking in the scenery all around you.  There are so many smells of flowers in the air, animals crossing your path, and just the sheer beauty of all that God has put on this earth.  So from now on—-running will be an enjoyable experience for me and not a chore.

There Is Nothing Wrong with a Powerful Woman!!

Do you know what the word POWER even stands for?   It stands for Passionate, Optimistic, Worthy, Energetic, and Respectable.  This is how every woman should be.  It is about the mind, body, and spirit as a whole!  You need to find your passion in life and enjoy it.  You need to live every day positively and with a smile on your face.  You need to realize you are worthy to follow through on anything that you desire.  Don’t let anyone hold you back!!  You need to gain energy by living a healthy lifestyle through diet and exercise.  You will gain respect for yourself and others when you follow all of the above. Work on getting stronger on the inside and it will reflect on the outside.  What are you waiting for?  Find your POWER!!
